Canadian Tax and Credit Simulator
2015Canadian Tax and Credit Simulator
University of British Columbia Economics Professor began developing the Canadian Tax and Credit Simulator (CTaCS) in 2007. An open software package that simulates the Canadian personal income tax and transfer system, CTaCS can be used to:
- assign tax burdens and refundable credit entitlements for microdata samples
- simulate the tax burden at different income levels, family types, years or provinces
- look up tax parameters such as federal tax brackets and rates, provincial tax rates, and credit and deduction levels (e.g., it can compute the per-child deduction limit for childcare expenses in 1972!)
- assist in teaching a course in taxation, whether in economics, law, accounting, or other fields.
